Writing text : As writers we will be writing a biography based upon the story, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. The children will be describing the life and achievements of the famous film director George Melies.

Reading Comprehension: As readers we will be developing our reading skills in decoding, inference and sequencing. We will be using a variety of targeted questions to develop and embed strategies to solve inference, retrieve and decoding questions.

Maths: As mathematicians,  we will continue developing number skills and fluency through a range of activities. Using Mini maths sessions we can practice specific skills as a fluency activity before applying the same skill within a reasoning problem.

Science: As scientists, we will be using their prior knowledge of health and exploring factors that will impact health and fitness. Children will research and investigate the circulatory system.

Religious Education:  As theologists we will be investigating Christianity. Our question is: What kind of kind King is Jesus?

French: As linguists, we will be learning about Clothes. By the end of this unit pupils will have the knowledge and skills to present both orally and in written form about what they are wearing and describing garments in French.

Computing: As computers, the children will visit their prior learning about data logging and collection before learning about how data can be recorded in tables.  They will learn the key features of spreadsheets and how to sort and filter their data.

Geography: As geographers we will be exploring National Parks.  The enquiry begins at a national scale as pupils establish where National Parks in the United Kingdom are located, the factors behind their distribution and their associated three purposes.

History: As historians, we will be exploring the Battle of Britain at the beginning of WW2, where Britain fought with the Germans for command of the skies above Britain.

Design & Technology: Digital World - Navigating the World. As designers, children will write a program to include multiple functions as part of a navigation device. They will develop 3D CAD skills to produce a virtual model.

Music: As musicians, we will be exploring the difference between rap and beat poetry.

Art: Focus: Drawing - As artists, we will continue our drawing journey  this term by using their observational skills to draw a crumpled bag.  We will look carefully at the shape and shadow of the bag and consider how we can create this accurately. We will be reflecting on the drawing skills the children have developed (line, tone, texture and perspective), and the different mediums for drawing including pencils and charcoal.  They will select a combination of these to develop ideas from sketchbooks to finished artwork.

PE: As athletes, we will be developing skills in Rounders. Through small sided games, children will develop an understanding of the game rules and tactics in striking and fielding.
