Writing text : As writers we will be writing a gothic narrative based on the book Wind in the Wall by Sally Gardner. The story is a dark story depicted withy hauntingly cryptic artwork. Curlews will be using skills to describe settings, characters and events.
Reading Comprehension: As readers we will be developing our reading skills in decoding, inference and sequencing. We will be using a fiction text by Brian Selznick called The Invention of Hugo Cabret to practice these skills whilst recognising different types of questions.
Maths: As mathematicians, we will continue developing number skills and fluency through a range of activities. Using Mini maths sessions we can practice specific skills as a fluency activity before applying the same skill within a reasoning problem.
Science: As scientists, we will be using their prior knowledge of electrical circuits to draw conventional circuit diagrams and use models to explain current, resistance and voltage. we will compare different batteries and consider the effect on bulb brightness. Pupils apply their knowledge of switches and electrical circuits to design and produce their own practical devices.
Religious Education: As theologists we will be investigating Christianity. Our question is: what difference does the resurrection make to Christians? (What do Christians believe Jesus did to ‘save’ people?) (Salvation)
French: As linguists, we will be learning about My Home (Chez Moi). By the end of this unit pupils will have the knowledge and skills to present both orally and in written form about where they live and which rooms they have and do not have in their homes in French.
Computing: Systems: Using technology - As a computer scientist we will recap our learning about systems and networks and the use of data centres. The children will learn about creating and using QR codes and RIFD. We will learn about the iimpact of AI technology in the future.
