Through looking at diffeernt media we will explore how technology around us has changed . We will also be learning about the different planets in our Solar System and finding out some facts about them. We have worked so hard with our maths this year following the Mastery Number Programme. We will continue with this work and introduce new resources such as a rekenrek which will help us with our number work in Reception but also as we move into Year 1. How you can help- log onto Busy Things via School 360 and have a go at some of their games, we love these in class and they are great for building our confidence in maths.

Physical Development
Letter formation continues to be something that many of the children need to keep practicing regularly- don't forget if you are writing at home to use the monster phonics patter sheet to support the children with forming their letters- in particular check that they are starting in the correct place and going in the right direction. The Lobsters will also be having a weekly PE session this half term which will take place on a Tuesday. This half term we will be developing our skills and understanding of activities to enjoy taking part in Sports Day with the rest of the school.

English
We will be continuing to use Monster Phonics to support our phonics work. This half term we will be looking to develop the children's confidence to become independent writers through our hold a sentence work. We will be consolidating the sounds which we have already taught and using these in our reading and writing. Don't forget you can really help your child by reading their Monster Phonics home reader at home at least 4 times each week and practicing the high frequency words which we have sent home throughout the year!
We will share stories including Whatever Next, How to Catch a Star and also Here come the Aliens as a stimulus for our learning. We will also find out lots of facts by looking at some information texts.

We have loved Drawing Club this year and have read a breadth of different stories, traditional tales as well as enjoying animations from Mrs Cuthbertsons and Mrs Angus childhood. Why not talk to your child about what their favourite learning in Drawing Club has been?
Expressive Arts and Design
Linked to some of the texts we will be sharing we will be working together to create some exciting models. We will try to create a space rocket like the bear from Whatever Next as well as thinking of differnt ways we might be able to catch a star. We look forward to shaing our ideas and seeing how successful we are.
